1. Who we are
Jeetie ("Jeetie", "we", "us" or "our") operates the Jeetie Ride rider app, the Jeetie Driver app and related websites and services (together, the "Services"). We are the data controller responsible for your personal information. We process personal information in line with the data protection laws that apply in each country where we operate.
This policy applies to riders, drivers, and anyone who visits our website or contacts us.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, phone number, email address, profile photo and password or sign-in method (for example, Sign in with Google).
- Driver details: if you sign up to drive, we also collect your driver's licence, vehicle information (make, model, colour, plate number), vehicle documents, bank or payout details, and information needed for identity and background checks.
- Payment information: wallet top-ups and saved card details. Card numbers are handled by our payment partners; we only keep a masked reference.
- Communications: messages you send through in-app chat, support requests, trip reports, ratings and feedback.
- Referrals: referral codes you share or redeem.
Information collected when you use the Services
- Location: pickup and drop-off points, and precise device location while you request or are on a trip (riders) or while you are online (drivers). See Location data.
- Trip information: routes, distance, duration, fares, payment method, scheduled rides, cancellations and receipts.
- Device and usage data: device model, operating system, app version, IP address, crash logs, and how you interact with the app.
- Notifications: a push notification token so we can send trip updates.
Information from others
- Riders and drivers may give ratings or reports about each other.
- Someone you share your trip with receives a link but we do not collect their personal information unless they contact us.
- Payment partners, identity verification providers and sign-in providers (such as Google) may share information with us to complete those services.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and verify your phone number or email.
- To match riders with nearby drivers, show live trip progress, calculate fares and process payments.
- To let riders and drivers communicate during a trip without sharing personal phone numbers.
- To manage driver plans (subscription or commission), calculate driver earnings and make payouts.
- To promote safety: verifying drivers, enabling trip sharing, investigating reports and preventing fraud.
- To provide customer support and resolve disputes.
- To send service messages such as receipts, trip updates and account notices, and, where you agree, promotional messages you can opt out of at any time.
- To improve, test and secure the Services.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
4. Legal basis for processing
We rely on one or more of the following lawful bases under applicable data protection law:
- Contract: to provide the rides and driver services you request.
- Consent: for precise location access, marketing messages and optional features. You may withdraw consent at any time in your device or app settings.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the platform safe, prevent fraud and improve our Services, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation: to meet tax, accounting, transport regulation and law-enforcement requirements.
- Vital interests: to protect someone's life or safety in an emergency.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described below:
- Between riders and drivers: riders see their driver's first name, photo, vehicle details, plate number, rating and live location. Drivers see their rider's first name, rating, and pickup and drop-off locations.
- People you choose: when you use "Share trip", the people you send the link to can see your live trip progress.
- Service providers: companies that help us run the Services, such as cloud hosting, mapping, SMS and email delivery, payment processing, identity verification and customer support tools. They may only use your information to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety reasons: with police, regulators or other authorities when required by law or when needed to protect the safety of riders, drivers or the public.
- Business changes: with a buyer or successor if Jeetie is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
6. Location data
Location is essential to how Jeetie works. Riders' location is collected when the app is open and during an active trip so we can set pickup points and track the ride. Drivers' location is collected while they are online or on a trip, including when the app runs in the background, so we can send nearby requests and show progress to riders.
You can turn off location permissions in your device settings, but you will then need to enter addresses manually and some features will not work.
7. Payments
Payments by card and wallet top-ups are processed by licensed third-party payment providers. We do not store full card numbers. Cash payments are recorded against the trip so fares, receipts and driver earnings stay accurate.
8. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. After you close your account we keep certain records, such as trip history, payments and safety reports, for as long as required by law or needed to resolve disputes, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms. We then delete or anonymise it.
9. Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls and monitoring. No system is completely secure, so please keep your password and one-time codes private and let us know immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
10. Your rights
Subject to the data protection law that applies to you, you have the right to:
- Be informed about how your information is used.
- Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information, which you can also do in your profile.
- Request deletion of your information. You can delete your account from the app's profile settings.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Data portability, where technically feasible.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that already took place.
- Lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@jeetie.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
11. International transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process information outside the country where you live. When this happens we put in place the safeguards required by applicable law to make sure your information receives an adequate level of protection.
12. Children
The Services are not intended for anyone under 18, and you must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us so we can delete it.
13. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website may use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working and to understand how it is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings. The mobile apps use device identifiers and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes we will let you know through the app or by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed.
